I also now have songs from several hundred CD’s on my new Mac Mini that aren’t on either my i Phone or my i Pod.
I would like to have everything in a central location be it the networked hard drive or the Mac Mini, although my preference is the networked hard drive.
Ideally, your primary goal should be to consolidate all of your music into a single i Tunes library, with the music stored in a single location.
You will find that your i Tunes library and music collection is much easier to manage and maintain in this scenario, both within i Tunes itself and also for the purpose of synchronizing to your various media devices.
Depending on how you've added songs to i Tunes, your library might include songs that are located anywhere on your computer's hard disk or other media.
To organize your files, you can choose to place a copy of all the files in your music library in your i Tunes Music folder.
From the Advanced menu in i Tunes, choose Consolidate Library.
Any song files that are located outside the i Tunes Music folder remain in their original location; copies of them are placed in your i Tunes Music folder. that is in your i Tunes Library will get moved to your current i Tunes Music folder location when you consolidate your i Tunes library.

Likewise, you can ignore the description of how you can add music files to your library so they can be played in i Tunes without physically copying the music over to the i Tunes Music folder.
